My 1-hour Cleaning Schedule That Will Work For The Everyday Mom

Hi my beautiful moms and homemaking friends. Today, I want to talk about how setting a 1-hour time slot each day to help you keep a clean and organized home. Doing this doesn't have to be an overwhelming task. I've created a simple one-hour daily deep cleaning schedule, one that you can maintain to keep a tidy and welcoming space without sacrificing too much of your time. Let's break down the routine by sections, focusing on 1-2 areas each day.

First thing I want you to do, which is something that helped me out tremendously is to get out a sheet of paper and a pen and write down a list of each section of your home. Look at your home's size and layout. Consider the number of rooms, levels, and specific areas that need attention.

For example; I have 2 levels.

Level 1: There are 8 sections. That includes the entryway, kids play room, dining room, my home office, kitchen, living room, laundry room and pantry.

Level 2: I have is a bit different. I have the stairs, hallway and hall linen closet, that I consider one complete section. The master bedroom, closet and bathroom as my second section. Each of my kids have their own bedroom and they are all responsible for their own sections + the shared hall bathroom.

Helpful tip: Now it's time to determine how much time you can realistically allocate to cleaning each day or week. This will help you create a manageable schedule for tackling different zones.

Here's How I Set Up My Days For Each Week:

Day 1: Entryway & Kids Playroom (1 hour)

I begin the week by giving my entryway and kids' playroom some attention. A quick sweep of the front porch, vacuum of the entryway floor, coupled with a wipe-down of surfaces, and I also end this area with my home blessing prayer. In the playroom, I organize Z4's toys, vacuum, and sanitize as needed to create a safe and enjoyable environment for your little ones. I also try to declutter this space as much as possible.

Day 2: Dining Room & Living Room (1 hour)

On day 2, I am shifting my focus to the dining and living room. In the dining room, I'm dusting the dining table, cleaning the chairs, dusting and cleaning the buffet, disinfect surfaces, and vacuum or sweep the floors. In the living room, a thorough dusting, vacuuming, and a bit of furniture rearrangement can rejuvenate the space. This also includes taking out the cushions on the couch and chairs and getting all the junk that could have piled up over the last week.

Day 3: Laundry Room & Pantry (1 hour)

Since the laundry room and pantry are so close together, I try to get this section done as early as possible because this is the section that (to me) is the most used. Because I was at least 2 to 3 loads of clothes each day, I want to get this space done early one so that my laundry isn't delayed. Here, I'll organize laundry supplies, wipe down appliances, and sweep or vacuum the laundry room floor. I throw out any empty laundry detergent boxes, etc. Then I'll move to the pantry to declutter, check for expired items, and wipe down shelves for a neat and organized storage space. I also make it a point to vacuum out this space and see what needs to be restocked.

Day 4: Kitchen & Home Office (1 hour)

As we all know, the kitchen is the heart of the home and where I put my focus for deep cleaning on Thursday's. Wipe down counters, deep clean the appliances, completely wiping down the microwave, cleaning out the fridge and decluttering the cabinets. I also mop the kitchen floor. Conclude with the home office which isn't much to do because the most I'm doing is organizing any paperwork, vacuuming the floor, cleaning the windows and my computer screen.

Day 5: Bathrooms (30 minutes)

On the final day, dedicate about half an hour to the downstairs bathroom. I mop the floors and clean the bathroom walls. Keep in mind that this is for deep cleaning, I already have a daily cleaning schedule for the bathrooms that includes cleaning the toilet, sink, countertop, mirrors, and scrub the bathtub or shower.

This simple one-hour daily routine ensures that no area of your home is neglected, making the deep cleaning process manageable and efficient.

Remember: Involving your kids in the cleaning routine not only lightens your workload but also fosters a sense of responsibility and teamwork within the family. It can be a positive and bonding experience for everyone involved.

In closing, by systematically sectioning off areas of your home and creating a realistic cleaning schedule, you can maintain a clean and organized living space without feeling overwhelmed.
